The Scholarship

The Fr. Rhoel Gallardo Scholarship Foundation is currently supporting 32 scholars who are pursuing college degrees in education, agriculture, criminology, etc. They reside in Maluso and Sumisip in Basilan, Alabel in Saranggani, Zamboanga City in Zamboanga, and Ormoc City in Leyte. All scholars are underprivileged students, many of whom are from indigenous and Muslim communities in Mindanao. They are expected to serve their communities after completing their college degree. Three scholars have graduated with degrees in education and are serving their respective communities.

Our Scholars

Mel Rose Alonso

Mel Rose is from Ormoc City in Leyte. She completed a degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics from the Visayas State University and passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers in 2018. She is now teaching Mathematics in Junior and Senior High School at Saint Paul’s School of Ormoc. She is also the president of the Claret Youth Ministry in Ormoc.


Airene Monique Polvorosa

Airene is from Maluso, Basilan. She completed a degree in Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2022 from the Mindanao Autonomous College Foundation. She is currently a volunteer staff at the Claret Samal Foundation Incorporated, a primary school run by the Claret Missionaries, and now preparing for the Licensure Examination for Teachers board exam.


Arlene Tuwa Ayao

Arlene is from Datal Anggas, Sarangani province and is half Blaan and half Tagakaolu. She is currently a 4th year student at GenSan Foundation College Incorporated, pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English. She is a core group member of the Claretian Youth Ministry Province.
